Fred Schmidt was a native of Cleveland, Ohio. In twenties, Fred was working as a welder for the New York Central Railroad. His passion for art was realized after he molded together random metal fragments from the railroad and created an abstract shape. Fred created elegant sculptures that were usually painted black, red, or white. His sculptures have been exhibited at the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Canton Museum of Art. His outdoor sculptures have been exhibited between the Michener Art Museum and the Bucks County Library Center.
